The opening of the new airport at La Palma

La Palma’s new airport terminal finally opened today, and so far it’s gone really well. All flights were on time, and the passenger flow was absolutely normal.

The old terminal officially closed last night, although a few businesses are still moving out.

The airport code is still SPC. Just make sure you don’t wind up in Palma de Majorca, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria or Santa Cruz de Tenerife by mistake. Or indeed any of the other places called Santa Cruz. I still say that this is the best one to visit.

  1. Where is it ? Near the old one ? I used to love the free parking at the old terminal, maybe you must pay for parking now ?

  2. The old terminal is right beside the new one. But yes, you now have to pay for parking, and it’s expensive, at least by Palmeran standards. Last month I parked from 8:15 am to 4:30 pm and it was over 6€.

  3. Just to note these are the current parking prices

First half hour or part thereof, free. Price per minute: from 31 to 60 minutes: €0.011490. Over 61 minutes: €0.012447. Daily maximum up to 4 days, €7.20; daily maximum from day five, €5.75

  4. I simply refuse to pay anything more than Eur 0.011480 Theresa, do i get any discount if i have only 3 wheels ?

  5. Yes its new terminal is right next to the old one. Parking prices are expensive ( probably it seems so because we do not usually pay parking fees in La Palma) and I hope these fees are not the thin edge of the wedge. So far as I know there is no where else on the Island where parking is payable except perhaps the new underground parking in Avanida De Puente. Parking at the airport and payment for parking is a complicated affair. You may park your car on one level but have to pay at a machine on another level. I hope these are teething problems.

Parking for the disabled is not free but there is a good transfer system from the parking area to the terminal and on to the flight for disabled persons.
