Sunday Photos: The road to the observatory

These photos were taken on the way down fromthe observatory on Saturday.

In other news, I finished the writing for the guide book on February 2nd. Getting an ISBN was a bit fraught because I only do this about once every 5 years and the process is full of Spanish technical terms like “paperback and “perfect bound”, but it’s done.

Now I’m wading through the proof reading. It’s a job that always takes longer than expected. For one thing it’s deadly dul, and for another I have to concentrate hard in order to read what I actually wrote instead of what I meant to write. Every mistake I find annoys me no end, but after all that’s the whole point of proof reading. As I found out with the first edition, it’s much better to suffer proof reading now than cringe after it’s been printed.

Not very far now. I’ll  get there.

Sheila came to La Palma with a six month contract and has stayed 24 years so far. She used to work as a software engineer at the observatory, but now she's a writer and Starlight guide.
