Here are some places to find more astronomy pictures.
- NASA are fantastic. I grew up with the Voyager space probes, and NASA’s photos of the solar system are still amazing. And of course they have great photos of, for example, the space shuttle and astronauts at work.
- Astronomy Picture of the Day is hosted by NASA, but they often use photos from other places, including telescopes on La Palma.
- The Isaac Newton Group provided many of the photos used in this website.
- The Instituto de Astrofisica have a nice selection, too. I particularly like the solar photos. And Grantecan publish wonderful photos, including this digital tour of GTC.
- The Nordic Optical Telescope has a nice gallery too.
- The Mercator‘s gallery is small but good.
- The BBC has some good astronomy pictures of deep sky objects (like galaxies) and the solar system.
- The World At Night (TWAN) has “stunning nightscape photos and time-lapse videos of the world’s landmarks against celestial attractions.” I particularly recommend the time-lapse videos)
- European Southern Observatory (Chile)
- Daniel Lopez, an astronomical photographer based in Tenerife
- ESA’s gallery is mostly looking down at the Earth.
- The Japanese Space Agency (JAXA) has photos of the lunar surface, the Earth, the sun, asteroids and auroras.
- And if you want to get involved, Zooniverse is always looking for volunteers to do things like help classify galaxies observed by the Hubble space telescope or spot the dip in light from a star as a planet passes in front of it.
