Let’s Keep our Freedom

The America Senate is debating a bill to deal with internet piracy. I absolutely do not support piracy. I’ve had my photos and stories stolen, and I hate it. But this bill is a seriously dumb approach to the problem. It makes it far, far far too easy to shut down a site. Say someone else writes a book on the same topic as me, and they’re getting more sales. All I have to do is create an anonymous account, post some of my copyrighted material on their site (even in blog comments) and complain. Their site gets pulled before they can argue about it. You can pull the same trick on any site with religious or political opinions you disagree with, and I’d bet a lot of money that extremists would do exactly that. Oh, and if the site’s abroad, they can get the ISP to pull the plug, or Paypal if they’re selling anything. If you live oin the USA, please sign this petition:
