Yay! The laptop’s fixed. That is, I’ve reinstalled windows, replaced files from backup and reinstalled a bunch of stuff like Dropbox and recovered most passwords. I still have a few bits to replace here and there, but I’m up and running.
I went to the solstice party at Rivendell which included a laughter therapy session and a belly dancing class.. It’s a lovely palace, but one of the few downsides is that you can’t drive there in a normal car.
So I parked just before the Briestas road crosses the river bed and got out my trainers. It was a hot day so I’d driven in my nice cool sandals, but I didn’t want to wreck my nice sandals by walking up the stony river bed. It was time to change.
I stared at the trainers in disbelief.
I’d forgotten I had two identical pairs of trainers. Somehow I’d picked up the left shoe from each pair.
I reviewed my options.
1) Walk to Rivendell in my sandals. Not an attractive option because these were the only pair I had which were both smart and comfortable. They hadn’t been cheap either.
2) Walk barefoot. Ouch no! Even though it was only a quarter of a mile.
3) Wear two left shoes. Um.
I put the trainers on. It wasn’t nearly as bad as I’d expected. Not comfortable, you understand. I was sure they’d give me blisters after a mile or so, but then I had less than half a mile to walk. So I did.
And that’s how I arrived at a dancing class with two left feet.
But the trainers I’d left at home were ALL RIGHT.
