For some time I’ve been a fan of Chris Guillebeau, who blogs about unconventional careers. He’s now doing a daily podcast called Side Hustle School. He believes it’¡s a really good idea to have a side line, both for the obvious extra income, but also fun, new skills, and to be less dependant on your employer.
The episode with me is at https://sidehustleschool.com/episode/38 It’s 8 min 21 sec.
He has a point.
He certainly does. I think there’s a lot to recommend a sideline. I love the writing, but it’s a bit solitary and sedentary and it can take a very long time to get paid. I love the tour guiding, but it tends to be a flood or a drought of work. On the other hand it gets me out meeting people, and I get paid much more promptly. Together they work really well.
