Sunday photos: bejeques

Bejeques or saucer plants (Aeonium in Latin) are a genus of plants. There are loads of dfferent ones in the Canary Islands, but this is the very common one. IT covers rocky ground, drystone walls and the roofs of old buildings. They make a great buffet for bees and they flower in time for Christmas.

I had a fun job today, helping a German company called “Bewegte Zeiten Filmproduktion” film a couple visiting the Roque. I met them in the port and we drove up together. Of course what you see on screen doesn’t just happen. The cameraman sat beside the driver and turned around to photograph the couple. That meant that the producer had to duck out of the shot. Sunday photo: stars

I had a go photographing myself with stars. The trick is to have a long exposure for the stars (in this case, ISO 3200, 15 seconds, f4) plus a flash photo for me (or anything else you’d like in the foreground.) I set the flash to half power.
