UPDATE: In Los Sauces on Saturday, they’ll be holding the 60s wedding. The wedding procession with start from Plaza de la Cruz at 6 pm and will wind through the streets. After the wedding itself, there’ll be a public dance with lots of 1960s music.
Carnival used to end on Shrove Tuesday, but these days it continues until the following Sunday evening.
In Santa Cruz on Friday the fun starts at 9pm with the sardine’s funeral followed by a concert and dance at the carnival stage. (To be honest, Santa Cruz’s sardine hasn’t been all that good for the last few years. I recommend the one in Los Sauces on the 23rd at 9:30)
On Saturday there are things going on for most of the day, starting at 11 am. At 9pm there’s a “hat party” near the Cuarto de Tula (Calle Trasera) and a costume dance at the Alemeda. At 11 pm there’s an 1980s party (music from the 80s and 90s) at the Placeta, with a prize for the best costume and at the same time there’s a costume dance with salsa music at the main carnival stage.
On Sunday there’s just a kids’ dance at 6pm.
