The big scrub

I was mad busy before and during Astrofest, and I pretty much ignored the house. Ten days is a long time to ignore housework, and it was pretty terrible at the end of that time.

For a while now I’ve joked that my house keeping (or rather lack of) is an act of charity. Any other overworked person who sees my house immediately feels better about hir own. But by Sunday morning, it was past a joke. Worse, I had friends invited for lunch on Tuesday. Now they’re good friends, and I don’t need to impress them, but I did want them to feel welcome and comfortable. Also, they were on their way to the airport, so it was vital to serve lunch on time. Most of Sunday and Monday I cleaned and cleaned and cleaned, with breaks for laundry and the like. By Tuesday lunchtime, the mess was pushed back to the usual corners and there were places to sit down. Food was eaten on schedule and enjoyed

And the kitchen and living room are so much nicer for the family too.

Bathrooms and bedrooms to go…
