  I bought a wonderful calendar for 2014 with pastel paintings of nebulae by the local artist Vanessa Sancho. I like the paintings so much that I still have the calendar. Alas, there wasn’t a 2015 calendar, but there will be one for 2016. Actaully make that October 2015 – March 2017. New statue in San José

San José in Breña Baja has a new statue to celebrate mothers. The square outside the Town Hall is called Plaza de Las Madres – Mother’s Square, and they have a special celebration for Mother’s Day.

Jorge Beda exhibition

The current art exhibition in the Calle Real is “Comida de Ballena” (Whale Food) by the painter and sculptor Jorge Beda who produced many of the public statues around the island. The exhibition features large expensive paintings, small ones for just 50€ and everything in between. It will be up until the end of the month.

Traditional embroidery, Casa Lujan, Puntallana, La Palma There’s a shop of crafts from La Palma beside the museum at Casa Lujan in Puntallana.
