The fair is even better than I thought. It turns out that there’s 100 stalls of non-edible craft work, (although some exhibitors have half a stand) and 20 of food and drink. The non-edible stuff includes lots of embroidery, crochet, tatting, leather work, felting, traditional folk dress, wooden boxes and bowls, notebooks and photo albums made of banana paper, paper and glass beads, wrought iron work, several very different styles of ceramics, painted glass and cigars.
The edible stuff included ice-creams (I bet they sell loads), sugar cane juice, jams and liqueurs made from just about everything imaginable, pastries and biscuits and La Palma’s own beer. Yum! There are also mobile kiosks outside selling the usual drinks, burgers etc.
The fair is on the main car park in Los Cancajos, at the north end of the main road through the village just above the Centro Cancajos from August 14th-18th, and from 11 am – 10 pm. Entrance is FREE.
There are workshops on glass painting, recycling, clay and painting on fabric, and concerts (mostly folk music, I think) on the stage.
