Really looking

I’ve been out for a walk every morning, and most days I’ve brought the good camera, a Pentax DSLR with the macro lens.

After 7 weeks of seeing the world from the balconies I find I want to stick my nose right in.

By that I mean in both senses of the phrase. I get right up close, and I smell everything.

Geraniums! Eucalyptus! Pine resin! Jasmin!

Even after eight walks it’s still heady stuff.

I confess I’m also very pleased with some of the photos.

I thought going out for walks would improve my productivity, but so far it’s had the opposite effect. I walk for two hours, then collapse in a heap and edit photos for another two. Of course I’m getting fitter. Work on both the Spanish guide book and the novel has crawled along, and next week is likely to be worse because I will probably be ALLOWED TO VISIT FRIENDS! Carefully, of course. We’ll be sitting 6ft apart with masks on, but I’m really excited.
