Chai Latte, asleep on my leg

I’m still starting almost every morning with Chai Latte. My husband brings me a coffee, bless him, and Chai comes trotting in and jumps on the bed. We have about five minutes of mutual admiration and petting, then she goes to sleep using me as a pillow while I drink coffee and read for about 15 minutes. It’s a great start to the day.

For the last few days I don’t linger though. I can’t wait to get into the office. My lovely friends are letting me use their office in Santa Cruz to write in. I was hoping that it would improve my productivity, much like going away for a weekend. Actually it’s even better than that, whether it’s the quiet or being physically away from the washing up. I’ve now edited as far as the end of chapter 65 and got it down to 100,900 words. The bad news is that I’ve found some minor issues (which I’m fixing as I go along) and one larger issue that I’m going to have to come back to. But having got such a good working environment, I’m still feeling enthusiastic and confident.
