I went for a walk near the west side of the tunnel, and I wound up photographing insects again. I have no idea what kind of fly this is, but it’s on a fennel flower and it was only about 3 mm long. Here’s the head-on view of the same fly. The fennel flowers and seeds are popular with pyjama bugs too. I’ve got a lot of shots looking down…
Getting fit slowly
One good thing about being unemployed is that I have time to get fitter. I’ve had a step counter for a few years. Over the winter I was working so much that I struggled to reach 6,000 steps per day. Now 8,000 steps is a bad day. During the strict lockdown I used to walk 18 steps from the door to the street to the door to the balcony, backwards…
Sunday Photos: backlit flowers
One of the advantages of going for a walk early in the morning is the near horizontal light. I’ve been havng a nice time photographing backlit flowers this week. It’s also nice to get out early because it’s pretty hot by mid afternoon. Next week the beaches open up, but I think I’ll wait for a couple of days before I go myself – I’m worried that they’ll be crowded….
Bashing On
I’ve officially signed off as self employed. It’s depressing because I spent about 10 years building up the business, but I couldn’t go on paying 305€ every month for the equivalent of NI when I had no income. I ought to have done it earlier really, but I didnt want to face it. It wasn’t easy doing the paperwork. I find the websites very confusing, so I normally got down…
Really looking
I’ve been out for a walk every morning, and most days I’ve brought the good camera, a Pentax DSLR with the macro lens. After 7 weeks of seeing the world from the balconies I find I want to stick my nose right in. By that I mean in both senses of the phrase. I get right up close, and I smell everything. Geraniums! Eucalyptus! Pine resin! Jasmin! Even after eight…
FREEDOM! (sorta)
I’m finally allowed out – with limitations. I can go for a walk within a kilometre of home from 6 – 10 am or 8-11 pm, and alone or with someone from the same household. People doing sport can go further, but I’m not sure that hiking counts. Anyway, a kilometre is enough to get me to the little thermophile forest reserve, so that’s where I went. After almost 7…
