Sunday photos: a fly’s arse
I haven’t found out what sort of insect this is, but it seems to only have the one pair of wings, so I think it’s a fly. The top view isn’t particularly beautiful either.

The late spring flowers are in full bloom at the observatory, and lots of insects are enjoying the all-you-can-eat buffet. This isn’t a bee because it’s only got one set of wings. it’s some sort of fly. This is some sort of moth, but as you can see I photographed it in broad daylight. I’m getting better at sharp close-ups. And finally a little fly who obligingly posed for me…
I’ve been on holiday in Menorca, which is a lovely island, about the same size as La Palma. One of the highlights of my trip was a hike through the s’Albufera des Grau national park from the lighthouse at Favàritx to the village of es Grau. I took a gazillion photos of course. This week’s photos are some of the flowers I saw. I was glad I’d made the…

While I’m on Menorca, I hope to go walking in the Albufera des Grau…

They’re wonderfully atmospheric, and I think I might write a murder down there one…

My cold is better, but I trapped my hand between my car door and the wing mirror of an adjacent car. I count myself extremely lucky that it wasn’t very much worse. Progress on the guide book is still happening in embarassingly tiny steps, but I keep going. I even…
