Sunday Photos: a bee and a butterfly
I took these on my way down from the observatory today.
I took these on my way down from the observatory today.
On Saturday I brought up my model solar system for my clients. The sun is too small. to be in scale with the planets, it ought to be 4m in diameter, but that’s rather inconvenient to fit in the car. The first four planets (Mercury, Venus, Earth and Mars) are marbles and too small to see in the photograph, but the girl in the foreground is holding up the Earth….
In case you’re puzzled, she’s got her frontlegs crossed. the pink fur and ribbon thing is her favourite toy, which she carries around the house with her, like a toddler with a teddy bear. Yes, I know I’m posting a lot of photos of Chai. She’s extemely photogenic. In other news, work continues slowly but surely on the book. I’ll get there! But carnival is coming and I’ll probably take…
I’m doing lots of tour guiding and steadily working on the book, but I made time to go out for a photo stroll with a friend. Oddly, the best pictures of the day came when I stopped at the visitor centre on the way home.
Chai Latte is still extremely curious about liquids, including a flushing toilet. On Tuesday my car broke down on the way to the observatory. Luckily I was able to limp to the workshop and I got the car back on Wednesday. I’m poorer now of course, but it could have been worse. And I’m still working on the next edition of the observatory book. I don’t get much done each…
This rock is on the main road just south of Tijarafe. I’ve seen it lots of times before, but I really like the backlight in this photo. In other news, I’ve recovered from the flu, and dealt with the backlog caused by the flu, and I’ve started work on the third edition of the observatory guide book again.
